Memorial Day Marks Beginning of Summer
May 26, 2011

Even though meteorological summer doesn't begin until June, Memorial Day has long been considered the unofficial beginning of summer. Observed on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day began in the 1860's as a way to honor US citizens who had died in military service. Today, many people take time on Memorial Day to visit the grave sites of lost loved ones, whether they've served in the military or not. Traditionally on Memorial Day, the American Flag is flown at half staff until noon at which time it is raised to full staff. Likewise, many Americans spend Memorial Day morning at parades or religious services honoring the holiday's somber origins, then spend the afternoon celebrating with parties and picnics.

By Memorial Day, most college students have finished their final exams and wrapped up their spring semesters, while grade school and high school students have only a few weeks or days until they're free from school for summer break. All of the trees now have their leaves, the weather has warmed up, and it's time to get out there and enjoy it!

Motorsports are a great way to make the most of summer. Maybe you're looking forward to going off-road and hitting the trails on an ATV, UTV, dirt bike, or go-kart, or perhaps you're more of a city slicker and want to cruise the streets on a fashionable European style scooter or chopper style street bike. Whatever your motorsports preference, Safer Wholesale has the vehicle for you!
