The VP12 is a vehicle specific, custom programmed 20MHz Microcontroller. It utilizes its high speed serial input/output to communicate directly with the ECU through the OBD-II port. Inside your ECU is a 3-dimensional table of values called a map. This table tells your fuel injectors exactly how much fuel to deliver given current air temperature, density, engine speed, throttle position, and other variables. From the factory, this map is generic and designed to provide a sluggish, no-surprises style of driving to suit a wide range of drivers. The VP12 temporarily replaces parts of this map with parts from our highly tuned performance maps, and will safely unleash you engine's full potential, without voiding the warranty.HORSEPOWER CALCULATOR
The VP12 is compatible with factory equipped Turbo/Superchargers, diesel engines, Flex-Fuel, & HHO systems. It is NOT compatible with hybrid engine options, propane or natural-gas powered engines.

How it Works
The VP12 uses an exclusive process of Dynamic Soft-Flashing not available anywhere else. Each VP12 comes programmed with a set of EPROM addresses that directly affect efficiency and performance. When the ECU attempts to read one of these addresses, the VP12 patches the factory value with one from its on-board performance tuned map.

Unlike ECU ROM chip replacements or permanent ECU flashing, the VP12 makes no changes to the ROM itself and does not require opening the ECU. It will not void your factory warranty.Will it be compatible with my current modifications?
Modifications that do not alter factory compression ratio or stroke are 100% compatible with the VP12. Many upgrades such as aftermarket intake and exhaust will compliment the VP12's performance. The device will automatically compensate for your modifications during its initial calibration.
What if I plan to add modifications later?
Anytime you add a modification that affects engine performance, you must reset the device and allow to recalibrate. During calibration the Volo Chip will extrapolate new target value sets based on your vehicle's current performance characteristics, fine tuning engine output.
How will the VP12 affect fuel efficiency?
Fuel efficiency will remain unchanged and in most instances improve slightly under normal driving conditions. For significant economy improvements, check out the FS1, FS2, or FS3 on our website.
Why is it so much cheaper than other ECU mods?
The VP12 was purpose built and is not capable of more advanced features like altering rev limit or disabling the top speed governor. These options cannot be soft-flashed through the OBD-II port.

Problems with Installation/Operation
No Lights - No Power
Unit will not power on
Solution:
- Step 1 - Press the reset button.
- Step 2 - Verify the correct port was used (OBD-II). Some vehicles have diagnostic ports that look very similar to the OBD-II port, but are not tapered on the sides. Refer to the included instructions or our installation tool for a photo of the OBD-II port
- Step 3 - Verify the tap-in connectors were installed properly. Failure to crimp the connectors all the way down will result in a poor connection. DO NOT push wires into the OBD-II port, as this will cause a short.
- Step 4 - Using a volt meter or continuity tester, verify pin 4 is grounded.
- Step 5 - Using a volt meter or continuity tester, verify pin 16 is 4.6VDC+ to 15VDC+ when key is turned to IGN position. If not, check fuses.
Does not enter Stand-By Mode
Unit will not enter stand-by mode
Solution - Don't worry! This is perfectly normal on some vehicles equipped with keyless entry and/or factory alarm. It will not interfere with normal operation or drain excess current from the battery.Fails Calibration - Red light after calibration

Problem - The Chip (VP9-12 & FS1) should display a steady green light immediately after successful calibration. If the unit displays a steady red light, then it has failed calibration.
Solution - This is caused by a communication time-out. Upgrade to Firmware Rev. 4.2 to remedy this problem.

Problem (VPW and some ISO protocols) : Unit will not exit stand-by mode, indicated by no PWR light and DATA flashes quickly every 3-5 seconds.
