The GM base marine engines that Safer Wholesale offers are the EXACT engines that MerCruiser, Volvo Penta, Marine Power, Crusader, Indmar, PleasureCraft Engine Group (PCM), OMC, etc., purchase directly from GM Marine Powertrain.

Genuine base marine engines are marinized by GM Marine Powertrain and include marine oil pan, valve covers, circulation pump, harmonic balancer, cylinder heads and all internal parts, including marine specific parts. OEM's (MerCruiser, Volvo Penta, Marine Power, etc.) purchase these engines from GM and install their own unique accessories (such as exhaust manifolds, ignition systems, etc.), thereby creating their own private label marine engine.

FEATURES:
  • New GM base marine engine (standard rotation) made specifically for 1987-1995 marine engine applications. (The 1987-95 5.7L marine engine can easily be identified by 4 bolts that go in the center of the valve covers. 8 of the 12 intake manifold bolts are installed at a 90º angle on the cylinder heads; the remaining 4 center intake manifold bolts are installed at a 72º angle).
  • Engine includes: engine block, cylinder heads, center-bolt valve covers, timing cover, 5-quart marine oil pan, circulation pump, harmonic balancer, roller cam & roller lifters, spark plugs, corrosion resistant black urethane paint, and all internal parts.
  • Direct replacement for 1987 thru 1995 305 ci (5.0L), 350 ci (5.7L) MerCruiser, Volvo Penta, OMC, Indmar, etc.
  • One-piece rear main seal (also known as full rear main seal), 4 bolt mains, mechanical fuel pump pad.
  • Rated at 270 hp @ 4800 RPM / 340 LB FT @ 3200 RPM with 4 barrel carb/intake. (actual power levels may vary depending on OEM calibration and application)
  • 8 of the 12 intake manifold bolts are installed at a 90º angle to the block. (4 center bolts are installed at a 72º angle to the block).
